2010 FA Cup Preliminary Round

After their 10-2 win in the Extra Preliminary round confidence was high at New Mills going into their tie with Chadderton, and this was justified as they won 3-1. The game was highly entertaining and despite having their keeper sent off and going a goal behind New Mills rarely looked likely to lose. They will be a handful for whoever they face from the winner of Curzon Ashton v Congleton Town.

Hertford Town who spoiled FA Cup debutant’s Tackeley’s dreams beating them 4-0 found Maldon & Tiptree just too good and their campaign ended with a 4-2 defeat.

Both of last seasons FA Vase Finalists ended up facing replays with Bishop Auckland holding Whitley Bay to a 2-2 draw and Wroxham and Ely ending up at 2-2 as well.

The weekends biggest wins went to away teams:

Horley Town 0 - 6 Metropolitan Police
Bridport 0 - 6 Clevedon Town

Sunday Game
Glapwell 0 - 6 Lincoln Moorlands Railway, played at Field Mill Mansfield – attendance 107

Now the preliminary rounds are out of the way the 1st qualifying round will begin on 12/9/10 and 232 teams are scheduled to take part.

Finally spare a though for poor Bromsgrove Rovers who not only lost their home for the last 100 years when another club were awarded the lease on their ground but now have been forced to withdraw from the Southern League, FA Cup and FA Trophy because of it. Their planned tie against Pilkington XXX was declared a walk over. Lets hope that the club can survive this and re-establish themselves in the 2011-12 season
