Manchester City overcame a dogged Reading side to set up a Manchester Derby in the FA Cup semi final. Reading came with a game plan which entailed defending in depth and trying to frustrate their multi millionaire opponents, and for 84 minutes it looked like they might just succeed in earning a replay. However defender Micah Richards popped up with the winner to set up the all Manchester clash.
City deserved their 1-0 win, creating 18 shots at goal to Readings 4 and they had just the better of the possession.
The attendance at Eastlands was 41,150 around half the that expected for the Wembley Semi Final.
The draw for the 2011 FA Cup Semi Finals has just been made and its thrown up the possibility of an all Manchester semi clash.
The full draw (all 2 of them)
Bolton Wanderers v Stoke City
Manchester United v Manchester City or Reading.
The Man City v Reading Game is live as I type.
Everton crashed out to championship side Reading so effectively ending their season again. Everton fans must have thought this was their season following their somewhat lucky win over holdres Chelsea in the last round, however their luck ran out against a plucky Reading who were well organised and good value for their win. They will now advance to the Quarter Finals and must love coming to Merseyside having knocked Liverpool out of last seasos FA Cup.
The Everton players were booed off at full time and following this passionless performance the blue contingent of the 29,976 crowd were justified in their actions.
